The Conviction to Commit

Conviction is defined as a strong belief or a feeling of certainty.
As an artist, I understood the critical importance of conviction from a very early age.
I could not step out on stage to perform my interpretation of Rachmaninov’s First Concerto or release eight novels out into the world if I didn’t believe in the value and importance of what I wanted to say…and why it was necessary to share it.
Conviction fuels resilience because it reframes who we are and what we do within the context of a larger, more meaningful concept.
Conviction leads to commitment.
When we believe in something — when we see and value its importance- it’s easier to commit to the long term realization of it, to the work and both internal and external journey necessary for it to come to life.
Because I believed in the value of my music and my stories — and why they needed to be released into the world — I willingly put in the endless hours of daily practice and writing to bring my art to the level needed for performance and publication to happen.
